OPINION: Charles Ramson, Jr. for president, not just yet

By GHK Lall

I note the Demerara Waves article dated October 16, 2025 and titled, Jagdeo instructs GRA, police probe of government officials for Mohameds gold smuggling allegations link”. I am glad that Dr. Jagdeo has initiated this step. Let it lead where it leads, let the chips fall where they may.

Thanks to Dr. Jagdeo, I came in for special mention. Specifically, “the time is now and I expect that a full-fledged investigation would be launched into those people from the Gold Board, including GHK Lall, and others who may have been complicit in assisting the Mohameds to (allegedly) evade the massive sum of taxes.”

To Dr. Jagdeo I say several things, while taking the liberty of using back some of his own words. First, the Guyana Police Force is free to launch, to conduct, any “full-fledged investigation” of GHK Lall. That’s me, and they know where to find me, due to their continuous surveillance of my surroundings. Separately, I must thank Dr. Jagdeo for singling me out by name. A stroke of genius, sir, to extract out from the U.S. Federal Grand Jury verbiage relative to the involvement of the broad descriptive of “state officials” and manipulate that into the specificity of GHK Lall. It seems that GHK Lall is the sum of state officials in Guyana from 2017 to 2024, i.e., in a PNC Government and four years of a PPP Government. It is a distinction that I take with mixed feelings, but the door is open to greet the Guyana Police Force, whether one man, or one team, or all that the GPF can muster. It is said that a negative cannot be proven. But in Jagdeo’s Guyana, one never knows if the imaginary has a good chance of wending its way into reality.

We shall see. All Guyana shall see. The Americans themselves shall get to see where all of this unfolds. I am ready and willing. Now, it is my time to instruct Bharrat Jagdeo on a basic fact of life: Know the truth and the truth shall set free. Better yet, live those same truths and there is no reason to fear any man, no matter how powerful and influential, no basis to retreat from any entity of the state, no matter how long its arms and clear its sight. May both be graced with what is the essence of cleanliness.

I now shall say a few other things. I have often wondered that if I did not occupy the public spaces that I do, and present the issues as I do, whether a leader like Bharrat Jagdeo would have known, or cared, that I existed. And that is inclusive of gold smuggling developments from the U.S. and the Mohameds, and my former chairmanship of the Guyana Gold Board. If I didn’t write and speak as much, and in the manner that I do, whether my name would be mentioned even in passing by the likes of Bharrat Jagdeo. Guyanese can ponder that one for themselves. The second thought that I share with my fellow Guyanese is just as simple, and no less straight, while also being just as thought-provoking and just as eye-opening. Follow this, please.

From the hour that the PPP retook the reins of government in August 2020, GHK Lall was among the highest of its priorities. Within weeks there was what was called an investigation into the Guyana Gold Board ops. Jagdeo called it that (an investigation). I call it for it was: a witch hunt, the first of several. When all that came out of that was second-guessing of decisions made by a full board of seven, the witch hunts went on in attempts to pin something, anything, on GHK Lall, that bone of bones in the PPP’s throat. From predator to radio station owner to traitor to now helper (“complicit”) in the gold smuggling operations of the Mohameds, the witch hunts roamed far and wide. The PPP Government of Bharrat Jagdeo has had over five and a half years to peek and probe, to investigate and regurgitate, wherever it wanted to go, and whatever it wanted to do, relative to finding something (ANYTHING) to plaster over GHK Lall. Yet, here I am still standing, by grace.

Finally, there is one more piece of information to put before the world. This will turn out to be more than Dr. Jagdeo bargained for, because it will be his Guyana Police Force that is more under scrutiny than me. And, remember fellow citizens, that I also said this. I can assure Vice President Jagdeo that the can of worms that he thinks he is opening will put he himself and his government under the sharpest scrutiny. Remember: when the truth is known and lived, the truth will set free.
