MURDER ACCUSED: Joel Harding

A man in Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Upper Berbice) has been charged with the murder of a United States (US)-based Guyanese businessman, police said.

Construction worker, 28-year-old Joel Harding, who resides at Coomacka Mines, Upper Demerara River, has been charged with the murder of 49-year-old Courtney Evans.

Police said the killing occurred on August 31, 2025 at Coomacka Mines.

Mr Harding was arrested on September 1, 2025 by a rank from the Mackenzie Police Station and charged on Monday, September 8 2025, with the offence of murder.

Mr Harding appeared on Monday at the Linden Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Ruschell Liverpool.

The charge was read to him. He was not required to plead, and he was remanded to prison, police added.

The matter is adjourned to October 20, 2025 for disclosure.
