WANTED: Rakameem Benowen Nicholas

Police on Monday said they were investigating the alleged robbery under arms of GY$13.1 million dollars at the Fantasy Game Lounge, located at Giftland Mall, Turkeyen, East Coast Demerara by a security guard who was on duty at the same business establishment.

Police have since issued a wanted bulletin for Rakameem Benowen Nicholas of West Ruimveldt, Georgetown.

“The robbery was reportedly carried out by an armed security guard, age 24, who is attached to Castle Security and was on duty at Fantasy Game Lounge. The suspect was armed with the security service 9mm pistol and 17 rounds,” the Guyana Police Force (GPF) said in a statement.

CCTV cameras at the Giftland mall captured the suspect walking out of the Giftland access road, then turning west on the Railway Embankment, and stopping a motorcar, PZZ 5690, which drove away in a western direction.

Checks were made to locate Mr Nicholas but without success. His house was searched but no cash was found. Efforts are also being made to locate the car involved. Further investigations are ongoing, police also said.

The money is the property of Sylvia Thomas.

Preliminary investigations revealed that on the date and time mentioned, Supervisor Raywat Sankar, 21, was on duty at Fantasy Game Lounge.

Police were told that Mr Sankar, exited the cashier area to assist the female floor supervisor, 27, in cleaning the gaming area since no customer was there at the time.

“The suspect, who was armed with a 9mm pistol, approached both Sankar and the floor supervisor, took out the firearm, pointed it in their direction, and then discharged a round in the air, demanding that Sankar open the electronic door to the cashier area,” police added.

The GPF also said Mr Sankar reportedly complied and Mr Nicholas then ordered him and the female supervisor into the cashier’s room and further instructed Sankar to open the vault and place all the cash into a garbage basket. The security guard then walked out of the building with the cash, police added.

Detectives who processed the scene recovered one 9mm spent shell.
