Guyana Police Force (GPF) homicide detectives on Thursday made a breakthrough in an investigation finding out that a woman reported missing by her relatives, was actually killed at her residence and her body dumped in a garbage bag off the new Ogle-Eccles Road, police said Friday.
Head of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Deputy Police Commissioner Wendell Blanhum confirmed to Demerara Waves Online News that 48-year old Jenny Mohammed was killed on June 10 at her Non Pariel, East Coast Demerara home.
Demerara Waves Online News was also reliably informed that the deceased woman’s daughter and her son-in-law confessed to the killing, after investigators visited the home, in response to the missing person’s report, and found blood. Also revealed to this publication was that the daughter and her husband led police to the Eccles new road leading to Ogle where Mohammed’s body was seen in a black jumbo garbage bag and wrapped with tarpaulin. “A rope was also tied to the neck of the victim, and the body bore multiple stab wounds,” the officer said. A knife, believed to be the murder weapon, was recovered by investigators, the officer said.


Investigators were informed that the deceased woman’s daughter and her husband devised a plan to kill Jenny Mohammed after they, along with their child, were subjected to constant abuse by the victim.
No charges have been instituted so far.
