Although the Guyana Police Force (GPF) said they searched the Double Day Hotel at Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo for a teenage girl, who was allegedly snatched and taken inside on Wednesday, aggrieved persons stormed the hotel on Thursday.
The GPF said Wednesday night that they were investigating a report of an alleged abduction committed on 16-year-old Adriana Younge, which occurred on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, between 11:02 p.m. and 2 p.m. at the Double Day Hotel.
Police said investigators visited the scene at about 3:30 p.m.
Police said surveillance cameras showed that Adriana entered a red and black Toyota Raum motor car bearing registration number PSS 4684, which drove off in an eastern direction towards Vreed-en-Hoop.
Information was received about the registered owner, who, when contacted, claimed he rented the car to one Orlando – no last name provided – since last week.
“Checks were made for the said Orlando at an address provided by the car owner, but Orlando was not contacted,” police added.
Trace of the vehicle from Georgetown Command Centre at about 8:58 p.m. Wednesday showed the vehicle in Onderneeming, West Bank Demerara at ‘White Shop short cut’.

Police said Wednesday night that after receiving the report Wednesday, they searched “in and around the hotel, including rooms, store room, yard, and roof, but they came up empty-handed. Several cameras were seen attached to the building.”
Police said a search was launched by the family in the pool and hotel but without success.
But on Thursday morning, they claimed police ignored their calls to search the building.
They also ignored police calls on Thursday morning to remove tyres and other objects from the road.
Instead, several persons snatched the tyres away from police and lit them on the road.
Family members, relatives and other residents of the teenager stood outside the hotel as part of their incessant demands for police to search the property, but they said nothing was done.
Region Three Divisional Commander, Khalid Mandall repeatedly tried to appease upset persons at the scene but to no avail.
Investigators were told that Adriana went to Double Day Hotel pool to swim with her grandmother, Carol Xavier, who stated that at about 1:10 p.m. she gave Adriana money to buy bands to swim in the pool.
Shortly thereafter, Adriana entered the pool with her siblings.
Sometime after, the grandmother called to get her family out of the pool when it was discovered Adriana was missing.
Police said they saw surveillance cameras but when asked to view the recording, the manager indicated that they are not in working order.
