Five men, including the prime suspect, have been arrested in connection with the seizure of more than 211 kilogrammes of cocaine at several locations in Imbotero, Barima River, North West District, police said.
The main suspect is Anthony Hosea Beria, also known as Anthony Hosea Yispen, and called “Negro.”
Police said they first raided his home and fuel storage bond, resulting in the seizure of 11 cellular phones and three handheld radio sets.
No narcotics were discovered at the location. The suspect allegedly fled with a firearm before the operation but he was subsequently arrested, police said.
Subsequent investigations led to the arrests of four individuals, each of whom directed police to separate locations along Imbotero Creek, where several bags containing suspected narcotics were recovered.
