‘Auto body’ technician stabbed to death

An ‘auto body’ technician was stabbed to death Sunday night at Skull City, Little Diamond, East Bank Demerara, after he and the prime suspect had an argument, police said.

Police said 23-year-old Shiv Persaud of Lot 89 Little Diamond was stabbed several times at about 10:30 Sunday night, hours after he and the suspect, Alex Gonsalves, had an argument while they were consuming alcohol.

Investigators were informed that Persaud was in company with a friend, 26-year-old Daimon Ramnarine, in the Skull City area when they were confronted by the suspect who was armed with a knife. “The suspect then dealt Persaud several stabs about the body,” police said. Police said injuries suspected to be stab wounds were observed on the left side shoulder, left side chest and other parts of Persaud’s body.

Ramnarine reportedly tried to intervene and was also stabbed. Police said Ramnarine picked up Persaud and drove to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre.

Persaud died while receiving medical treatment. Mr Ramnarine was also treated but took self-discharge to proceed to a private hospital.
