Police hunting bandits who shot, robbed man

A man was shot and robbed of GYD$30,000 during the pre-dawn hours of Wednesday morning at Cemetery Road and D’Urban Street, Georgetown by three identifiable males, the Guyana Police Force said in a statement.

Thirty-one year old Mark English of Providence, East Bank Demerara was shot to his left leg at about 2:55 AM.

Investigators were told that he went to a shop to make a purchase when he was approached and robbed of the cash. “During the process, one of the men who was armed with a handgun discharged, several rounds at the victim, hitting him in his left leg,” police saiid.

English managed to drive to a city hospital where he underwent surgery and admitted. His condition is regarded as stable.

The suspects have not yet been arrested.
