A security guard was Tuesday night hacked to death by her husband while she was on duty an East Coast Demerara secondary school and later surrendered to police.
One of the dead woman’s colleagues, who tried to prevent the man from entering the Bygeval Secondary School Compound, was also chopped severely and has been admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
Dead is Candacy Pitt, 31 years, if 18 Chelsea Park, East Coast Demerara. Her workmate, 51-year old Brenda Thomas of Chelsea Park, has been hospitalised.
Police said Pitt’s husband, Athlone Pitt surrendered to the police and confessed to the crime.
The Guyana Police Force said that at about 9:45 PM on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, Pitt was attacked by her husband at her workplace and dealt multiple chops about her body. Moments before, police said he attacked and chopped Thomas who had denied him entry into the compound to see his wife.
They were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where Pitt was pronounced dead on arrival and Brenda Thomas admitted.
