Wanted man shot dead, body found in Le Repentir Cemetery

A man wanted for murder and implicated in several other offences was Thursday morning found dead in the Le Repentir Cemetery.

Police identified him as Steve “Cheesy” Mohammed.

Investigators intend to confirm his association with his alleged crimes by matching his finger-prints.

The Guyana Police Force said in a statement that at about 6 AM on Thursday March 24, 2016, the body of Mohamed of Kaneville, East Bank Demerara, was found in the Cemetery with suspected gunshot injuries.

The body is at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home awaiting an autopsy, as the investigations continue.

As late as December, 2015 he was wanted for the murder of Quacy Thompson,31, of Linden. That incident occurred on July 15, 2014, at Mowasi Landing, Konawaruk, Potaro, Region Eight.

He was also implicated in a series of robberies and the shooting of an occupant of a minibus in recent times.
