As Guyana gears up for the celebration of 50 years of Independence, the Communities Ministry through the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) has announced a promotion for House lot applicants.

Junior Communities Minister Valerie Patterson revealed that persons who would have been allocated house lots and have paid more than 50% of the total cost of the house lot will be getting a discount.

That discount will come in the form of 50% off the remaining cost of the house lot. This would equate to 25% discount from the total cost of the house lot.

“If by the first of May you have completed paying 50 of your house lot then you will be given a 50% discount on the balance of the house lot…You cannot want anything better than that from CH&PA but the balance must be paid by the end of May,” said Patterson declaring “that’s your jubilee.”

It was explained that person who would have been granted turn-key homes are also eligible for the promotion but the promotion does not extend to the House.

Also among the plans for 2016, Patterson explained that persons now have the option of exchanging their house lots if they cannot afford the piece they were allocated.

She said if persons were allocated a plot of land for $2M they can go into the Ministry and ask for a piece of land that costs less than that amount.

Further persons that were allocated house lots what would grossly inconvenience them have the option of asking for a different house lot. (Jomo Brusheildon Paul)
