A woman admitted to strangling her child, three days after initially telling investigators that the lad had fallen from a tree and eventually died, police said.
Investigators said that on February 21, 2016, the police received a report from a woman that her eight-year-old son Emanuel King, of Parfait Harmonie, WBD, had fallen out of a tree and subsequently succumbed to his injuries.
Police said that during investigations into the matter, on February 24, 2016, she admitted that she had strangled the child.
The pregnant woman has been arrested and is in police custody assisting with the investigations, while police await the results of an autopsy.
Crime sleuths were told by the woman’s husband that she eventually admitted to him that she strangled the child with a bed sheet, after beating him severely.
The child was rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he succumbed.
