GPL managers to get increased salaries, allowances

gplThe Guyana Power and Light Inc. (GPL)  Wednesday announced that it has reached agreement with the Guyana Public Service Union (GPSU) for a 6.5 percent increase in salaries for Junior and Senior Managers of the power company.

GPL said the two sides  mutually made and entered into an agreement on December 29, 2015 for the emoluments and benefits for employees represented by the GPSU for the calendar year 2015.

This is following negotiations that commenced on Wednesday November 18, 2015 which witnessed proposals and counter proposals.

In the final agreement, Junior and Senior Managers of GPL will receive the following emoluments and benefits:

Salaries

  1. For the year 2015, an increase of 6.56% on the existing salary level as at December 31, 2014 at each position of employment.
  2. A “one off” payment of $5,000.00 per month or $60,000.00 per annum for the year 2015.

Mileage Allowance

  1. An increase of $40.00 per mile for travelling; from a previous value of $135.00 per mile in 2014 to $175.00 per mile in 2015 commencing January 1, 2015.

Overtime Meal Allowance

  1. Commencing January 1, 2015, an increase of $100.00, from a previous $1,000.00 in 2014 to $1,100.00 in 2015.
