Huge marijuana haul

Police Thursday night made a huge marijuana haul in the city.

Investigators said that at about 9PM Thursday December 03, 2015, anti-narcotics police searched a motor vehicle on Mandela Avenue, Georgetown, during  which 76.6 kilograms of marijuana were found.

A man has been arrested and is in police custody assisting with the investigations.

In recent days, there has been an outcry among sections of the public about the jailing and remanding of persons convicted for very small amounts of marijuana.
