The driver of a car has been arrested in connection with the hit-and-run road death of a former student of Mackenzie High School and Brickdam Secondary School during the early hours of Saturday morning, police said.l
Preliminary information is that 16-year old Denelson Rose of Noitgedahe, Linden was returning to his home at Fairsrust after friends put him off at the Five Corner.
Police later said in a statement that the driver of motor car PRR 6503 was tested and found to be above the legal alcohol limit. He is presently in police custody assisting with the investigations.
The accident occurred between 0330h. and 0400h. today Saturday October 24, 2015, on Washerpond Road, Linden.
“It seems like he was dragged a long distance,” a resident told Demerara Waves Online News. A resident said part of a vehicle’s number plate was stuck in his back and his body was badly battered.
Though it was a hit-and-run accident, a surveillance camera at the Linden- Wismar bridge captured the image of the vehicle suspected to have been involved.
Rose left Brickdam Secondary at Form 4 and attended Mackenzie High where he wrote CXC.
