GECOM’s Official Preliminary General Results sent to media at 4:22 Tuesday afternoon

Last Updated on Wednesday, 13 May 2015, 4:29 by GxMedia

The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) Tuesday afternoon began releasing preliminary results of Monday’s general and regional elections.

While both major political parties are claiming victory; the commission, international observers,  top American, British and Canadian diplomats stationed here have appealed to Guyanese to await the official results.

The coalition A Partnership for National Unity+ Alliance For Change (APNU+AFC) and the People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPPC) have said they were looking forward to the official results.

The Chairman of the Joint Services, Brigadier Mark Phillips has also added his voice to such calls. He also urged that the results be accepted by the political parties.
