Turkeyen resident shot dead, robbers cart off valuables

A resident of Turkeyen, East Coast Demerara was shot dead by bandits who later entered his home and carted off cash and other valuables, police said.

At about 10: 50 Friday May 01, 2015, Shawn Anys, 37 years of Turkeyen, ECD, went out into his yard to check after dogs were barking continuously and was confronted by two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun.

During the confrontation Shawn Anys was shot to his body by the perpetrators who then entered the home and took away a laptop computer, two cell phones and $40,000.00 and escaped, police said.

Shawn Anys was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Investigations are in progress, police said.
