MURDER ACCUSED: Richard Stanton.

Three months after the wife of a well-known city businessmanā€™s wife was gunned down in front of her house, a man was Monday arraigned on a charge of murder.

Thirty-four year old Richard Stanton of Princes Street, Lodge is accused of the murder of Patricia Sanasie on January 12, 2015 at Atlantic Gardens,  East Coast Demerara.

He was not required to plea to the indictable charge.

Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry remanded the accused to prison until May 4, 2015 when he is expected to appear in the Sparendaam Magistratesā€™ Court.

Court documents state that the woman and her daughter had just returned home from church when the elder Sanasie was shot several times after she exited the car to open the gate to her yard.

Police believed that they had sufficient evidence to charge Stanton.

Sanasie was the wife of auto parts dealer, Deokaran “Monkey Ram” Sanasie who is the owner of Ram’s Auto Spares on Light and Fourth Streets, Alberttown, Georgetown.

Back in February, 2014 the businessman was shot and injured while imbibing with friends a short distance away from his Alberttown-based business.

She and her husband have been in a bitter feud for several years now.
