A woman was Tuesday night killed on the West Coast Demerara public road after a car that was being driven allegedly by a drunken driver ploughed into them.
She has been identified as Vanessa Forde, said to be in her 30s, of Stewartville. Her eight-year old son, Zedane Moore, escaped serious injury.
Sources said Forde and her son had just left her mother’s home to return to hers for clothing and return when tragedy struck while they were walking in an easterly direction.
The driver of the car was detained by police.
Police on Tuesday said that there has been a total of thirty road fatalities, compared to thirty one for the corresponding period last year.
