Woman’s torso found on foreshore identified; man arrested

The body of the woman, whose head and limbs were chopped off and found on the Buxton foreshore, has been identified, according to sources.

Her name has been given as Samantha Benjamin. The 40-year old woman lived in Buxton.

Crime sleuths have so far found out from Benjamin’s ex-husband, with whom she was having a relationship, that she moved out about two weeks ago.

Investigators said they have arrested a man in connection with the gruesome discovery during the early morning of Thursday, March 26, 2015. Police said he was found in the woman’s house with her clothing.

The detainee was known to Benjamin.

Her headless and limbless body was found on the Buxton foreshore about 7:30 AM and several hours a head washed up on the Annandale foreshore.
