A bandit was shot dead and another escaped shortly after robbing a pump attendant at an East Coast Demerara gas station, according to sources.
The owner of Choke Gas Station located at LBI Public Road opened fire on the two bandits.
The only name of the dead man was given as Mervin.
Police sources said that the dead man was found in a yard at Railway Embankment Road with the CG motorcycle. The vehicle had no rear number plate.
The other bandit escaped, leaving behind his clothing and a bag containing one calculator. The cash was missing.
Meanwhile, a bandit was arrested by a policeman at Popeye’s Fast Food outlet, Vlissengen Road during a robbery there.
Two others opened fire as they fled the scene.
That Popeye’s branch has been robbed several times before.
