The interception was made on Sunday at approximately 9:30h at the Parika Beach, where the crew was waiting on the tide to rise in order to return to BK Quarries in the Mazaruni. The four BK Group employees and seven others from the Parika Outfall area allegedly removed the 15 tons of stone without permission from BK’s vessel MT Gail and placed on an old wrecked barge, Alana 3.
The stolen stones, some of which were already bagged, were taken to the Parika Police Station following the interception. Investigations are continuing. They are expected to be charged and placed before the court.
