Convict found dead with stolen items

An armed robbery convict, who was recently released from prison, was found badly beaten and dead with a quantity of stolen items and cash in his possession, police said.

He has been indentified as 25-year old Eldon Sampson of Craig, East Bank Demerara. His body was found with “multiple injuries” on the roadway at Samantha Point, Grove, East Bank Demerara at about 10:45 Friday morning, police said.

Investigators said a bag containing GUY$50,000.00, a cell phone and a laptop computer that were reported stolen earlier from a female resident were recovered by the police, along with a bicycle and a knife.

Sampson had recently been released from prison after serving a sentence for robbery under arms.
