Courts, IPED officials injured in Essequibo Coast accidents air-dashed to city

Last Updated on Sunday, 3 August 2014, 19:15 by GxMedia

Chandanie Das
A senior official of Courts (Essequibo Branch) was Sunday listed in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) following an accident on the Essequibo Coast.

Chandanie Das, 32, received injuries to head, neck, an arm, a leg and one of her lungs. Preliminary information received by Demerara Waves Online News states that the vehicle she was driving collided with another one on the Armadale Public Road before ending up in a nearby trench. She was pinned.

Her father said she left home Saturday night to go to a house where a wedding reception was being held.

Das was one three persons who were air-dashed to the city as a result of separate accidents Saturday night on the Essequibo Coast.

The other head-on collision was at Taymouth Manor that resulted in the death of one of four persons.  Officials of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) said 25-year old Delvin Benn succumbed to his injuries while he was being flown to the city on Sunday.

Those admitted to the GPHC are an official of the Institute of Private Enterprise Development (IPED), Rodwell Spellen, and recently Cuban-trained doctor, 23-year old Nandyi Bennon.  Bennon sustained injuries about her body and Spellen’s hip was fractured.
