Construction worker, Dexter Daniels of 98 Kara Kara, Mackenzie, Linden was sentenced to three years imprisonment on each charge and was  fined GUY$30,000 after he changed his plea to not guilty.

Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry said the jail term would run concurrently so that means he would serve only three years.

Daniels changed his plea one day after saying he was innocent. He said he was guilty to being in possession 4.222 kilogrammes of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking on July 7, 2014 at  922, Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara. The Prosecution’s facts are that Customs Anti Narcotics Unit (CANU) agents forcibly entered a locked Canter truck at  the  Golden  address where they found several packages of marijuana.

They then searched the house at the same address and found the cocaine.
