A man, who was arrested last week for alleged illegal possession of firearm, early Monday morning escaped from the Georgetown Hospital where he had been admitted.

He has been identified as Dexroy Brown,21, of Waterloo Street, Georgetown

Deputy Police Commissioner, Seelall Persaud said the policeman who was guarding the detainee “might have lapsed”.

The man escaped around 5:30 AM from the Male Surgical Ward.

Brown was allegedly found with handgun while being in the company of another man at Plum Park, Sophia last week Thursday (March 6, 2014) at 11:15 PM. Police have said that during arrest Brown was shot to his legs.

Police are expected to charge Brown and the other man on Monday with illegal possession of firearm and apply for an arrest warrant for the escapee.
