Sophia woman held for gun, ammo find

A woman was arrested Saturday evening in connection with the discovery of a handgun and bullets at a house on ‘C’Field, Sophia – widely regarded as a hotbed for gun-related robberies.

Police said they found the 9 MM Browning pistol and 12 round about 6 PM Saturday during a search at the premises.

Deputy Police Commissioner Seelall Persaud has recently confirmed that police have been patrolling the Sophia and carrying out intelligence-led operations to counter a spike in armed robberies in the Sophia area.
