Youth charged with stealing vehicles

An 18-year old man was Friday arraigned for robbing two men of their vehicles and he was refused bail until another court appearance next month.

Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry’s court was told that Lorenzo Forde of Drysdale Street, Charlestown was picked out during an identification parade.

Forde pleaded not guilty to both charges.

He was remanded to prison until February 17.

The first charge is that being that on December 26,2013 at High Street, Kingston, being in company of another armed with a broken piece of bottle, he robbed Marvin Benjamin of one Toyota Fielder Wagon valued GUY$2M, along with one cellular phone and GUY$10,000 cash valued GUY$18,000.

The second charge is that on December 30, 2013 he robbed Elijah Adams of one Toyota 212 Carina valued GUY$1.5 M, and at the time of, during or before the he made use of personal violence to the victim.

The prosecution successfully opposed bail based on the seriousness of the offence.
