One of three bandits was shot dead at Dazzell Housing Scheme during a robbery, according to Deputy Police Commissioner Seelall Persaud.
The two others escaped with a quantity of cash and jewellery belonging to businessman Ian Evans and his family.
The incident occurred at Dazzell Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara about 2:15 PM. The bandist attacked Evans’ wife in the grocery before going upstairs where one of them was shot dead.
The teenage bandit was shot dead by the businessman who Persaud said is a licenced firearm holder.
This is the third time in recent weeks that bandits have been either shot dead or injured during robbery attempts.
The first was at Haslington, East Coast Demerara where one of several bandits was shot and injured to his hand and the other was the fatal shooting of an intruder at a house at Annandale.
