Shopkeeper in gold mining district killed

A shopkeeper was stabbed to death Wednesday at Tiger Creek, North West District, police said.

He has been identified as 21-year old Tyrell Evans of Port Kaituma.

Investigators were told that a group of persons had been in the shop and when they returned they found him dead with several stab wounds.

Police said the shop was ransacked but it was not immediately clear whether anything was stolen.

The body has been taken to the Mabaruma mortuary where an autopsy would be performed.
