A two-month old baby was killed Tuesday afternoon in a road accident involving a Mahdia-bound minibus, police sources said.

Ten persons were injured and rushed to the Linden Hospital Corporation (LHC) where the baby, Ryan Anthony, was pronounced dead on arrival. The baby’s mother, Yhonesa Monrose, was said to be injured but not in a critcal condition. The minibus driver, only known as ‘Chowmein’, was critically injured.”

Twenty seven year old Shannon Nurse and  was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (LHC) for further treatment to a fractured left arm and Faye Jones,35, of South Ruimveldt who suffered an open fracture to the left leg. She was due to undergo surgery late Tuesday night.

The accident occurred in the vicinity of Moblissa, Linden-Soesdyke Highway about 11:15 AM when one of the bus’ rear tyres punctured. “The vehicle turned over several times and ended in a clump of thick vegetation off the highway,” said the source.
