Jialing Forestry employee shot during payroll robbery

An employee of Jialing Forestry Industry was allegedly trailed from a city commercial bank, shot and robbed of a GUY$3 million payroll on Friday, police said.

Chinese national, Gao Yun Xu, was shot his back and the two men escaped on a motorcycle.

The money was supposed to be used to pay workers.

Investigators said the man was followed from a Republic Bank branch in Georgetown and the bandits pounced on him on his arrival at his business enterprise.

Police said the incident occurred at about 11:15 AM Friday at the office of Jailing Forestry Industry, Courida Park, East Coast Demerara.

Gao Yun Xu has been admitted to a private hospital for medical treatment.
