One die in Essequibo River boat accident

One person is dead and another is injured and hospitalised as a result of a boat accident on the Essequibo River Wednesday evening, officials said.

The dead woman has been identified as Donna Rampersaud.  Hospitalised is Melina Williams. Both of them are from Fowl Mouth, a location closer to Baganara. 

Demerara Waves Online News was told that two 15 Horse power boats collided during the hours of darkness.

Officials said the boat captain has been detained as part of an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
