The residence of Yvonne Pearson, Adviser to the Minister of Amerindian Affairs, was Wednesday afternoon
destroyed by fire.
Pearson, a former Chairman of the National Toshaos Council, was not at the Vryheid’s Lust North home when the blaze started.
She said she lost all her belongings including important documents such as her birth and marriage certificates.
Pearson said she did not know where she would be sleeping Wednesday night. At the same time, she suggested that her only other immediate option was to travel back to Essequibo where she belongs.
The fire, she said, could have been of electrical origin although she was quite confident that all appliances were
unplugged.
Her son, who runs a small shop nearby, failed in his attempt to gain entry on seeing the fire.
