A North West District vendor might be in for a bitter time as more sweets have tested positive for cocaine, police said.
Those sweets and a number of others collected from children are now part of a probe that has been triggered several children falling ill earlier this week after they had eaten the sweets.
Their stomachs had been swollen and they had been suffering from severe diarrhea and vomiting. They have been discharged from the Mabaruma Hospital.
Sources said the children-who hail from White Water, North West District-had purchased the sweets from a vendor in their village. The vendor and a distributor at Kumaka, the central business district, have been questioned.
