Updated: Man shot during armed robbery

A man was shot to his abdomen during a robbery in south Georgetown early Thursday morning, police said.

Injured is 23-year old Christopher Wayne.

Police said that about 3:50 AM, Wayne of Callender Street, Albouystown, was about to enter his premises when he was confronted by two men on bicycles.

Police said the men took away his cell phone, silver jewellery and GUY$12,000.

Investigators said that as the perpetrators were leaving, Wayne picked up a stone with the intention of throwing it at his attackers, when one of the men shot him to his abdomen.

He is a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
