Arsonist commits suicide; partner burnt, house damaged

An arsonist is believed to have committed suicide after a house was severely damaged and his common law wife was badly burnt.

Police said the body of Patrick Seepaul was found about 6 PM at Zorg, Essequibo Coast. “He is believed to have consumed poison,” investigators said. The body was taken to the Suddie Hospital mortuary for an autopsy.

Seepaul was suspected of having set fire to the dwelling house of 50-year old Tameshwarie Narharry of Zorg about 5 AM Wednesday.

“The upper flat of the building was destroyed and Tameshwarie Narharry suffered burns about the body,” police added.

The woman has been admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
