Gambling leads to shooting death

A grass-cutter was gunned down early Friday morning after a gambling spree went sour over GUY$500, police said.

Dead is Mansford Lewis of Sophia. He is said to be in his 30s.

Police said the incident occurred about 12:30 AM on Mandela Avenue in the vicinity of a wash-bay.

Investigators were told that Lewis, the assailant and another man were gambling illegally at a shop when an argument erupted over the money.

After shooting Lewis, the assailant- Kevin- rushed the man to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.

Police said that after Kevin learnt that Lewis died, he fled the hospital. Up to midday Friday, he was not arrested.
