Murder suspect arrested while making assault report

A man, who went to a police station to report that he was assaulted, was held in connection with the early Wednesday morning stabbing death of another man.

20-year old Jamal Fernandes of 14 West La Penitence, Georgetown was stabbed in his abdomen.The incident occurred just outside Baroombar, North Road, Georgetown.

Deputy Police Commissioner, Seelall Persaud said the assailant was arrested for the homicide when eyewitnesses rushed to the police station to report the incident and saw him there. At the time, he was making a report that he was assaulted.
