Deputy Chief Education Officer appointed

Deputy Chief Education Officer (Development) Mrs. Doodmattie Singh.
The Ministry of Education on Tuesday announced that Mrs. Doodmattie Singh is has been appointed Deputy Chief Education Officer with responsibility for Development.

Minister of Education, Priya Manickchand extends her congratulations and wishes Mrs. Singh success in all her endeavors.

Mrs. Singh has an extensive background in Education having spent 34 years of her life as an educator and having taught at all levels of the Guyana Education System – Nursery, Primary, Secondary and Tertiary. She started her career as a Pupil Teacher at the Vergenoegen Nursery School and by 1985 was one of the few persons with a Class 1 Grade 1 Trained Teacher’s Certificate in Nursery Education.

Mrs. Doodmattie Singh holds a Bachelors Degree in Education – Teaching and Administration (Primary) and a Master of Arts Degree in School Management.

Apart from her outstanding professional experience and contributions as a teacher, Mrs. Singh also served as Administrative Officer in the Department of Education Region 3, District Education Officer 11- Region 3, Regional Education Officer Region 3, Regional Education Officer Region 4, and from 2007 to May 2013 she served as Assistant Chief Education Officer for all three levels – Nursery, Primary and Secondary.

The opportunity to train and supervise at all levels of the education system has given her a wealth of knowledge and experience that will be an asset to her in her current position as Deputy Chief Education Officer-Development.
