Six men are in custody in connection with the separate discovery of a large quantity of marijuana and a handgun with matching bullets, police said.
A mobile patrol stopped and searched a minibus at Ithaca, West Bank Berbice around 5:30 PM Saturday and found 3 kilogrammes 192 grammes of marijuana.
Three men have been arrested and are in police custody assisting with the investigations.
The other three men were arrested around 4 AM Sunday when police discovered a .32 pistol with three matching bullets along the roadway in East Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
“Three men who were in the vicinity have been arrested and are in police custody assisting with the investigations,” said Guyana Police Force spokesman Ivelaw Whittaker.
