Two shot at Bartica night spot

The Bartica Police station where the matter is being investigated.

Two persons were shot at a Bartica night spot and police have seized the handgun from which the rounds were discharged.

Injured are 18-year old Keshana Barnes of Farm, East Bank Essequibo and the licensed firearm holder, 23-year old Tyrone Lewis of Bartica. Barnes was struck on her right foot and Lewis shot himself to his buttocks. They are patients at the Bartica Hospital.

The incident occurred at Platinum restaurant and bar.

Investigators said that around 10:45 Friday night, Lewis was at a night spot at Bartica when he accidentally discharged a round from his firearm which struck Barnes.

Police further said that another male patron confronted Lewis concerning the incident during which he is reported to have made efforts to pull out the firearm. In the process, he accidentally shot himself to his buttocks.
