Student allegedly caught with bullets in mouth

Last Updated on Saturday, 26 December 2015, 21:01 by GxMedia

A student of the Government Technical Institute, who allegedly hid three 9 MM bullets in his mouth, was Monday refused bail and remanded to prison on a charge of possession of ammunition without a license.

19-year old Frane Mikhail Braithwaite pleaded innocent to the charge when he appeared before City Magistrate, Fabayo Azore.

Although defence lawyer, Mark Waldron maintained that his client was innocent, the magistrate upheld the prosecutor’s submissions for opposing reasonable bail.

Braithwaite- 41 Station Street, Kitty- was remanded to prison until June 26 for the commencement of a trial.

The prosecutor told the court that the offence of possession of ammunition without a license was prevalent and the defence had not advanced any special reasons for bail to be granted.

Police alleged that Braithwaite had the three rounds in a small Ziploc bag in his mouth when he was stopped and searched because he was acting suspiciously.

He was charged after he could not produce a license.
