Frequent-flyer caught with cocaine in false bottom suitcase

A frequent flyer was Tuesday afternoon caught attempting to smuggle cocaine to Canada through the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), according to police sources.

The 41-year old man from 46 East La Penitence, Georgetown was caught when a suspicious object was spotted by Narcotics Police at the baggage scanner.

When a search was conducted, two kilogrammes of cocaine were found stashed in a false bottom of the suitcase.

The man, whose initials are T.M; was due to leave on a Caribbean Airlines flight to Toronto but he was intercepted around 3:15 PM.

The man often travels overseas.
