One woman was killed and several persons injured when a truck toppled at Big Creek, North West District earlier Tuesday, officials confirmed.
The woman has been identified as Angela Lawrence.
Three of the injured were air-dashed aboard a Roraima Airways Medivac flight. They have been identified as 15-year old Mark Allen of Port Kaituma; 18-year old Eon Williams of Moruca and 45-year old Bonny Byer.
They arrrived at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation during the pre-dawn hours of Wednesday and were being treated by doctors.
Details of the mishap were sketchy.
Tuesday’s accident is the second for the week, the first one having claimed four lives when a truck’s brakes failed and the vehicle slid down a hill and eventually toppled into a gully.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and the Guyana Geology and Mines Commision appealed for the public’s support in countering misuse of the roadways.
