A Corentyne businessman was allegedly robbed of cash by three masked men early Saturday night, police said.
The Guyana Police Force did not say how much money was stolen or the name of the 57-year old businessman.
Police said Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) footage was obtained and was being reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.
Investigators said no shots were fired and no one was injured during the reported robbery under arms that occurred at 7:35 PM Saturday, October 10 at Number 2 Village, East Canje, Berbice.
Police were informed that the businessman was in the cashier area of his beverage depot, located on the lower flat of his premises, when three masked males, one armed with a handgun and the others with a baseball bat and cutlass, entered the establishment.
“The suspects reportedly confronted the businessman and demanded money before relieving him of a quantity of cash, after which they fled the scene in a dark-grey motor car, making good their escape,” police also said in a statement.
