An Air Services Limited (ASL) single-engine plane, with the captain and five passengers aboard, on Sunday overran the Mahdia airstrip after one of the tyres punctured during takeoff, authorities said.
A Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) official said the wheel was replaced and the plane continued its operations.
The ASL plane, a Cessna 208B Grand Caravan, bears registration markings 8R-ASL.
Police said preliminary enquiries revealed that the aircraft, which had five passengers and the pilot on board, had landed at the Mahdia airstrip in Region 8 (Potaro-Siparuni) when it reportedly veered off the runway and came to a halt on the eastern side of the airstrip.
“Police said no injuries were reported among the pilot or passengers. No cargo was reported lost or damaged, while the aircraft reportedly sustained minor damage to its wheels,” police added.
Police said they visited the scene and obtained statements from relevant persons.
