The 27-year-old salesman, who was abducted Monday morning, May 4, turned himself into the police after his abductors reportedly set him free, police said.
Waaldijk Zineer, an employee of Bhena’s Footwear on Regent Street was reported to be in good condition when he turned up at the Brickdam Police Station.
A high-ranking police officer said the man, who lives at Grove, East Bank Demerara, provided no meaningful information relating to the matter to investigators, but it is suspected that his abductors are known to him.
Crime Chief Leslie James told Demerara Waves that there were two persons in custody and the police was expecting to have the missing man also.
It is understood that the detained men could be close relatives of the victim.
The police investigations continue.
Zineer was waiting for his work place to open for the days operations when three men forced him into a car. An alarm was raised and a report was made to the police.
Police said the men were armed with handguns. βThe two men confronted Waaldijk Zineer and forced him into a bronze coloured motor vehicle bearing registration number PLL 8911 which sped away,β police added in a statement.
