In light of the upcoming General Elections, some seven days away, the country’s Home Affairs Ministry has declared May 11 a public holiday to facilitate voting activities.
In a public missive by the Home Affairs Ministry, it wished to āinform the general public that in pursuance of the powers conferred on the Honourable Minister of Home Affairs by Section 6 of the Public Holiday Act, the Minister has declared Monday, May 11, 2015 as a Public Holiday in observant of General and Regional Elections.ā
At least eight parties are contesting the General and Regional elections with over 500,000 citizens set to cast their votes for the government of choice.
