New tax regime for vehicles, outboard engines

Finance minister Dr Ashni Singh on Monday night announced in his 2026 national budget presentation to the National Assembly the reduction or elimination of taxes and duties on several categories of vehicles and outboard engines. They are:

• Flat tax on double-cab pick-up: GY$2 million on pickups less than 2,000cc irrespective of age
• Flat tax on double-cab pick-up: GY$3 million on pickups between 2,000cc and 2,500cc irrespective of age
• Value added tax (VAT) has been removed on vehicles below 1,500cc less than four years old
• VAT removed on hybrid motor vehicles below 2,000cc
• Removal of all import duties and taxes on ATVs for all categories irrespective of purpose or use
• Removal of all taxes and duties on outboard engines up to 150 horsepower (HP).
